MOLLY BURDETT IS AN AWARD WINNING DIRECTOR & PHOTOGRAPHER BASED IN LONDON

Human stories are what has always motivated Molly. Real people with real emotion. Those on the sidelines and those not always heard. Summer’s spent working at global photo fairs developed her eye for an artful frame. Learning from the greats, it wasn’t long before a fascination grew into an obsession.

An obsession that led her to the esteemed Chelsea College of Art. Where in her final year she created the award winning documentary LOVE BIRDS. A film that tells the story of pigeon racers in Bromley, a provincial town in the outskirts of London. Recognised by the BFI and Underwire Festival, it wasn’t long before she was flying too.

Working closely with musician Arlo Parks, they crafted six music videos together. Helping define Arlo’s visual identity, and in turn, a Grammy winning album. Her next project for Women’s Aid shone a light on the rising epidemic of violence against women. Shot by academy nominated DP Robbie Ryan, the film went on to be recognised at Cannes Lion, British Arrows and 1.4.

Making her name in commercials, the next accolade came with ‘Have a Word’ for The Mayor of London. Which focussed on the destructive nature of toxic masculinity. The film amassed over 307 million views, enough pressure to convince the UK government to invest 18 million to combat violence against women. Winning the sought after glass Cannes Lion, D&AD white pencil and impact award at The British Arrows. But the bigger win was the film being included in the national curriculum and being used by the United Nations as part of their training resources globally.

From commercials to short films, her latest ‘A Loud Piece of Armour’ was selected at the Palm Springs Festival this year (2025). Working with Robbie again and starring Jo Hartley, it tells the story of a woman rediscovering the primal scream she once had as a child.

From being listed in the Top 10 current directors by Televisual to landing Adidas’ global women’s football campaign this year. Molly has made her mark. But from first picking up that camera aged 9, the same values remain. Honesty, rawness and a fascination for interesting people. She’s now looking to expand this into longer formats.  More time to tell those stories, that for her, just deserve to be told.
